Captain 28m Private M/Y

West Nautical are currently recruiting a Spanish speaking Captain to join an amazing private 28m new build motor yacht in La Spezia, Italy. The position is to start the first week of April with interviews being held before the end of March.

The vessel is in the final stages of the build and is expected to be launched in April before being delivered to her owners early May 2023, upon delivery the vessel will be based out of La Spezia which short 1–2-week trips with the owners. Initially the role will consist of setting up the vessel, including checking spare parts inventory, ensuring the yard has supplied all required paperwork and putting together standard operating procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the Italian coast, Sardinia, Corsica, South of France, and the Balearic Islands. The successful candidate should be a go getter, practically minded with good knowledge of deck procedures, maintaining a navigational watch, and driving tenders as well as having very good record keeping ability, knowledge of managing a shipyard warranty list is desired.

The vessel itself will be privately operated with the owners predominantly using the vessel on their own with the occasional trip with friends or family.

The ideal candidate will be able to speak fluent Spanish and should have a very good knowledge of the local waters on the cruising itinerary. They should be happy to share their knowledge with other crew members and help with their professional development.

This role is open to couples preferably a Captain & Chief Stewardess team.

On offer is a seasonal position this could however change as there are plans to ship the vessel to the USA. It comes with a generous salary of €6-7k per month, 38 days holiday per year and full medical insurance.

Qualifications: Master 200gt, Valid Eng 1 and STCW 10.
