We’ve all heard various bits of information about famous superyachts in movies, but which boats got the biggest break? We take a look at what are some of our favourite and most famous superyacht appearances that we have seen on the big screen. Because does it get much better than superyachts and Hollywood, right?
1. M/Y LADY M in The Wolf of Wall Street
LADY M represents Belfort’s own superyacht NADINE which was originally built for Coco Chanel in 1961. Belfort who is a is played by Leonardo DiCaprio. LADY M was built by Intermarine Savannah in 2002 for a luxurious setting for the film with elegant interior offering accommodation for up to ten guests in five staterooms comprising a master suite, VIP, two doubles and one twin cabin.
2. M/Y THUMPER in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie
Sunseeker’s M/Y THUMPER stars in Absolutely Fabulous with Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley who spent around six hours on board filming the scenes for the movie. The 40m motor yacht was delivered in 2014 and nominated for a 2015 World Superyacht Award.
She has five generous cabins plus berths for up to nine crew and the master suite is nothing short of luxury.
3. M/Y Casino Royale (ex M3) Casino Royale
Famous and named after the James Bond movie “Casino Royale“ M/Y Casino Royale (ex M3) is a luxury Sunseeker Predator 108 built in 2003. 32,90m (107′ 11”) Her interior layout sleeps up to 8 guests in 4 rooms, including a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 4 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
Another famous yacht starring alongside Daniel Craig and Eva Green in Casino Royale is, Spirit 54’ Soufrière. Arguably one of Spirit’s most iconic yachts, their CEO Sean McMillan says, “It was designed specifically for Casino Royale, the production company’s search for a classically elegant, unique, British built yacht. The scene in which Daniel Craig and Eva Green glide into Venice onboard Soufrière granted her a place in British film history…”
Following her movie appearance, Spirit 54’ Soufrière was sold and was used for cruising and participating in competitive racing for a number of years.
4. Sunseeker Sovereign in Quantum of Solace
Sunseeker Sovereign 17 stars in the James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace in 2008 in the scene taking James Bond to Mathis’ villa in Italy. Sovereign 17 was originally built in 1970 and was fully restored in 2005 as a celebration of Sunseeker’s heritage and while this boat doesn’t come with any fancy gadgets, it’s definitely one of the best looking!
5. Regina in Skyfall
Superyacht Regina featured in the James Bond movie Skyfall. According to Boyacı. The 28-year-old vice-chairman of Pruva Yachting, manufacturer and owner of 56 metre superyacht, ‘it took his company a month to get the yacht ready for the film’ EON Productions, maker of Bond films, chose Superyacht Regina because one of the Turkish production company’s workers had seen her cruising in Göcek, and EON approached Burgess to find out more about her. Daniel Craig was on board the yacht in every day for eight days filming in Turkey (particularly Istanbul and Fethiye) with director Sam Mendes.
6. M/Y USHER in Entourage
Custom Motor Yacht USHER, previously named Mr. Terrible was built by Delta Marine. She is featured in the movie Entourage. The 154ft /46.94m yacht has a master suite, two VIP cabins, jacuzzi and has an 80-inch tv in the master salon. USHER is ideal for entertaining, socialising and or intimate and formal gatherings as seen in the movie! She also boasts the latest water toys which include water skis, kayaks, and scuba diving equipment.
