With the arrival of the Med Season, Superyachts and their crew will soon be kick-starting the summer. AYSS Yacht Supports network of Superyacht agents has been supporting Captains and Crew across the med for some time. Cannes, France

Cannes, located on the French Riviera, is one of those notorious Superyacht locations that will never get old. What was once a small fishing town, has now become renowned for hosting the most prestigious film festival in the world.  Although it is much smaller than Nice, there is more to Cannes than just film, with La Croisette promenade featuring 5-star hotels and boutiques, this small town has made a name for itself over the years and has become one of the most glamorous cities in France. Nevertheless, there is something for everyone beyond the glitz and glamour.

1. Visit the Old Town, Le Suquet, to get a peek into the history of Cannes.

Cannes has a long and interesting history that can be explored. Start your way at Le Suquet and walk up to Place de la Caste to see the 16th-century church Notre-Dam d’Espérance. At the summit of Le Suquet is the Musée de la Castre. Located in the ruins of a medieval castle, this museum is rich in history with archaeological and ethnographic collections. As well as, the captivating collection of antiques and artifacts, the museum has a panoramic view of the city, not to be missed.

2.  Take a private ferry to Île Sainte-Marguerite

Only a 15-minute ferry ride away is the biggest island off the coast of Cannes,  a natural beauty home to secluded beaches and forests. Take the Eucalyptus Walk from North to South across the island for plenty of marked trails to explore. Surrounded by crystal clear waters, eucalyptus, and Aleppo pine trees it is the perfect day trip.

3. Visit Marché Forville

Whether you want to shop for a special dinner or simply grab a bite to eat, Marché Forville is a great place to do some shopping, with its fresh produce, scented flower stalls, and fresh fish. It opens daily from 8 am to 12:30 pm and is one of the most popular places with unlimited choices.

France’s largest port town, Marseille is the oldest city in France and is known to be one of the most relaxed cities. Marseille is a perfectly positioned superyacht destination between the hotspots like Ibiza, St. Tropez, and the Balearic islands. It is the perfect mix of old and new with cobbled streets, sea views, and a multitude of cultures and communities to immerse yourself in. It is made for getting lost and discovering why this port city is called “the city of a hundred neighbourhoods”.

1. Hike at Calanques National Park

Enjoy a beautiful four-hour hike with an extensive array of trails at Parc National des Calanques. On reaching the crest, you will have an incredible view of the coastline and the water. It offers stunning landscapes and access to a number of rocky coves located between Marseille and Cassis. During the hikes, there is the opportunity to stop and swim in magical ocean inlets.
