The Best Crew Hotspots In The Med To Visit In Your Downtime

Been given some downtime between charters? Seize the opportunity by visiting some of these crew hotspots in the Med. When Superyacht crew have time to unwind, there are so many gorgeous places to visit on their time off. Summer season is sure to be something to look forward to all year round and is a great chance to explore a variety of amazing locations on Mediterranean shores.
To make it easier for you, we’ve got a list ready…

Palma de Mallorca

One of the greatest things about Mallorca is that it doesn’t take long to get around, and you don’t have to go far for something to do. Palma has great hotspots for visitors, rich in culture, gastronomy, and art. If you take a quick break there, you can walk the historic streets and enjoy boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and fresh food markets.

Here are a few places to consider:

  1. Hogan’s Bar Palma’s first authentic Irish Pub has been situated in the buzzing Santa Catalina area since 1996. It hosts live music and sporting events, and has amazing views of the marina and Paseo Maritimo. Grab a beer, a cocktail, or a pint of Guinness. The menu also boasts filling burgers, chicken wings, and nachos. Everything is made from scratch so it’s guaranteed to be tasty!
  2. Cala Major Beach – There are many beaches in Mallorca, but if you want to stay close to Palma, this one is ideal for you to chill in the sun and take a leisurely swim in the sea. Popular with Yachties, there are several bars on the beach to purchase snacks or beverages too.
  3. Maciá Batle Winery – If you and your crew are into wine, don’t miss out on the chance to sample some of the island’s best drops and a tour around a local vineyard. You will taste up to five of the Bodega’s top wines and learn about the process of making them too.

If sightseeing is more your thing, Palma’s biggest tourist attraction is the Gothic-style cathedral La Seu. Nearby is the Royal Palace of La Almudaina (residence of the Spanish royal family), and Bellver Castle sits on a hill just outside the city centre overlooking the whole of Parma.

Gibraltar

A wonderful place to get to a high point and wonder at the horizon. This British headland on the South of Spain has a great mix of Mediterranean and British characteristics. The town centre is decorated with waterfront hotels, red post boxes, and plenty of fish-and-chip shops. With the country’s strong military history, you can’t miss the sights and ruins either.

Check out these:

  1. Cable Car – This ride only takes 6 minutes to take you over 400m to the top of the rock! Once you’re at the Top Station, relax and enjoy the beautiful view. Hot and cold drinks are available at Top of the Rock Café, and there’s always a meal and cocktails at the Mons Calpe Suite Restaurant and Bar. When you want to get back down, take the cable car or (if you’re feeling energetic) go down the famous Mediterranean steps.
  2. Camp Bay – If you’re into diving or snorkeling, this is ideal. Camp Bay is a rocky beach that faces the Atlantic on the south side of Gibraltar. Home to one of Europe’s first artificial reefs, the shallower waters are a haven for marine life. It isn’t the sandiest of beaches, so if you want to lounge in the sun all day, Playa de Levante is one to check out on the eastern side.
  3. Casemates Square – One of the largest public spaces, the square is lined with numerous bars, restaurants, and pubs. It’s found in the shopping district at the entrance of Main Street, where you can relish the experience of a British high street in the sun VAT-free.
On your way around, you might catch sight of those pesky Barbary Macaques (be careful not to feed them)! For more activities, you can go Dolphin watching, take the Gibraltar Skywalk, and explore the country’s caves and tunnels. There are some lovely bars around if you want to sit and savour a cocktail, too.

Italy

Italy enchants with charming coastal towns, vineyards, and mouthwatering cuisine so on your time off, enjoy numerous Med crew hotspots. Relax by crystal clear waters and explore the sites around you.

Here are three lovely places:

  1. Positano – A photogenic cliffside town on the Amalfi Coast and a well-known holiday destination, with streets lined with shops and cafés. Chill at Spiaggia Grande beach, grab a bite at the seafront restaurants, and go kiyaking. The Music on the Rocks nightclub is literally carved out of rocks so head there for a memorable night.
  2. Capri – On the Tyrrhenian Sea. A scenic place with limestone cliffs, lemon trees, and bright blue waters. There’ll be plenty of restaurants and shops to check out. Don’t forget the illuminated Grotta Azzurra seacave, either.
  3. Sicily – Sample street food, visit the capital Palermo, and explore the various temples around. There’s also the active volcano Mount Etna, vineyards, and cooling seas. Sicily has something for whatever mood you’re in.
The list could go on and on. Other locations include: Venice, Rome, the port city Genoa, even the Aegadian Islands. Being a popular tourist attraction, the Amalfi Coast has plenty of beaches and provides easy travel between towns. But if you’re chartering calmer territory and fancy the off-beaten track and stunning coastline, then Cinque Terre is ideal.

Greece

With no shortages of ancient temples and beaches, Greece is an irresistible destination for cultural enthusiasts and sun-seekers alike.

Have a look at these three Med crew hotspots:

  1. Athens – Stop by the marina 9km from the city centre, then take a look around ancient buildings (like the Acropolis and the Parthenon) and museums for a classical city tour. Try something new and visit the Odeon of Herodes Atticus for a show, or go to the central market instead. Drink a Greek Coffee – you can’t miss out on a unique caffeine fix!
  2. Nafplio – Near the port, there is a whole strip of bars and restaurants. Arvanita is the local beach, and the sandier Karathona is slightly further away. Take a walk through the old town, along the main promenade, and check out seafront cafés, then if you’re feeling brave, climb the 999 steps to Palamidi Castle!
  3. Rhodes There is an elegant marina which is a great base for traveling all over the Aegean and the Mediterranean sea. The old town is the largest medieval city in the whole of Europe, and was declared a World Heritage City in 1988. For a nice time on the beach, Agios Pavlos is a pretty chilled area. To grab a drink or two, head to the bar street Ordanidou Co, with all the liveliest pubs and clubs in the town.

Of course, it doesn’t stop there! There are many stunning islands to visit, such as Crete and Corfu. There are many locations with a great nightlife, as well, if you’re keen on a slightly wilder time.

Nafplio

Corsica

Corsica is an amazing location for lovers of the outdoors. With its picturesque blend of fashionable coastal towns, forests, and mountainous zones, this Mediterranean island offers a delightful combination of natural beauty and charming urban areas.

Take a look:

  1. Rondinara – One of the island’s most secluded bays, Rondinara’s twin headlands curve to form a perfect horseshoe, which provides a good environment for anchoring boats. The beach boasts white sand and clear water, and there’s a restaurant nearby if you’re hungry! Arrive early to enjoy thinner crowds.
  2. Filitosa – A prehistoric site, this is a great place to go to if you’re into history. The statue-menhirs are one of the most spectacular and complete examples of megalithic art in the Mediterranean. Guided tours in English are available and after, you can explore the museum!
  3. Bastia – Main city of the north of Corsica. The three main divisions of the city fall into the the old town, the Citadel, and the old harbour. Stroll through the streets – and if you climb to the Citadel, you’ll see some amazing panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea!
Feeling adventurous? Around the island, there are great crew hotspots where you can go rafting, paragliding, and canyoning. Swim in the Restonica Gorge if it’s sunny and you have time.

South of France

With a stunning Mediterranean coastline, the South of France is lined with glamorous towns and cities. With its vibrant culture and rich history, you’ll not want to miss out on a trip ashore! Of course, you can indulge yourself with the delectable local cuisine, and beautiful summer sun.

These locations might interest you:

  1. Nice – Sample classic Niçois cuisine and stroll along the Promenade des Anglais. At the heart of it the old town is Place Rossetti, with its classical fountain in front of the Sainte Réparate cathedral. Nearby is Fenocchio, an ice-cream shop that’s been there since 1966 – you can pick from almost 100 ice cream flavours! Are you brave enough to try olive-flavoured ice cream or will you stick to Vanilla?
  2. Marseille – Lose yourself in the oldest quarter of Le Panier. There’s a lot of street art around to check out, and you can get panoramic views from the basilica La Major. Notre-Dame de la Garde is decorated inside with splendid Byzantine-style mosaics. Visit the MuCEM – a cutting edge museum all about Mediterranean culture and civilisation.
  3. Antibes – Packed with 1800 boats, Port Vauban is the Mediterranean’s largest marina. The closest beach to the town centre is the Plage de la Gravette, perfect for swimming. Explore the historic Fort Carré, or walk around the coastal path. These are also plenty of spots to indulge in a few cocktails so try the local favourite drink, Pastis. Art lovers, you’ll want to visit the Picasso Museum!

Other noteworthy crew hotspots include Carcassonne and Albi. There are plenty of World Heritage Sites in the South of France, so these locations are ideal for an exploration of historic landmarks and heritage – but don’t forget the beaches!

AcqueraPro Officially Launch Desktop Platform

Much like the rest of the modern world, the Yachting Industry continues to find new ways of embracing digitalisation and the advancement of certain technologies onboard shows no sign of slowing down. In recent years, there have been major advances in onboard technology, from maintenance software to fully digitalised bridge operation systems. Up until recently however, the process of entering ports, creating itineraries and dealing with other forms of bureaucracy when cruising still required a hefty amount of paperwork. Enter Acquera Yachting, who have officially launched the desktop version of their digital platform, AcqueraPro, after almost a year and a half in the making.

Itinerary platform on Acquera Pro
The comprehensive Itinerary planning feature on the AcqueraPro app

Operating in 11 countries in the Med, the platform has been designed to streamline the experience of cruising from location to location during busy seasons. It takes seconds to find all the information, tariffs, regulations, and port rules on the app, something that previously took up a lot of time. Not only are Captains informed of all formalities when entering each port, all of the required documents are in one convenient place. Furthermore, as the app provides data and figures based on the boat’s size, all information is specific to the boat.

In the App’s comprehensive ‘Discover Leisure‘ platform, you can learn about recreational opportunities in each location, including Events, Experiences and Restaurants, as well as easily creating an itinerary which can be shared with guests. Whilst Acquera have harnessed the functionality of digitalisation onboard, the creators are insistent that the app is not intended to replace the agents on the ground, but rather to work in tandem to deliver the best experience possible for guests and crew.

Watch the video below to discover the impressive desktop version of AcqueraPro.

Watch: Cookson Adventures & Icon Yachts, The Future Of Exploration In Yachting

World-leading luxury adventure travel company, Cookson Adventures ICON Yachts have come together for the first time to collaborate on a short film to reflect on their shared passion for expedition yachting and share their renewed vision of yachting centred around purpose-driven travel.

The launch of this short film gives viewers an exclusive insight into the process behind designing elite yachting adventures through interviews and new footage of the expedition yacht, Project MASTER.

Cooksons Adventures and Icon yachts partnership
Micca Ferrero and Nick Davies

ICON Yachts owner, Micca Ferrero, and Nick Davies, Managing Director of Cookson Adventures both give an insight into how the companies are marrying their unique skills and expertise from over 32 years of combined knowledge to facilitate a greater focus on marine conservation and science in yachting.

Benefits from this collaboration include being able to foresee more accurately what the next generation of explorers will require from these cutting-edge vessels in both design and travel experiences. This could be anything from sub-diving with cutting-edge sonar equipment, to assistance in mapping the ocean floor and attempting to identify new marine species, to hosting scientists onboard and dedicating a space for a world-class laboratory so they can share their findings and knowledge with guests in real time.

Filmed in March 2023 at the ICON Yachts shipyard in the Netherlands, this collaboration gives viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Project MASTER, which is currently in build and is set to be one of the world’s most capable explorer yachts. Previously a loaden offshore rescue and standby vessel, this ambitious conversion project, expected to be delivered by 2025, is a fitting backdrop to the film’s conversation around the future of exploration in yachting.

Nick Davies, Managing Director of Cookson Adventures comments:

“Rarely do shipyards and expedition providers come together to shine a light on the process that goes into designing elite yachting adventures. By collaborating from the concept stage and sharing our expertise, we are then able to design complex and meaningful travel expeditions for clients which have purpose. We are excited to provide our input into the design and operation of Project MASTER and we hope to use her as a platform to explore more remote regions of the world in the future. With a state-of-the-art science lab and heli-pad, the opportunities to design immersive and impactful conservation focused experiences anywhere around the world will be endless”.

Micca Ferrero, Owner of ICON Yachts, states:

“It is a true honour to join forces with Cookson Adventures within a historic collaboration during the entire lifecycle of Project MASTER. This exceptional exploration yacht is designed with adventure and scientific expedition in mind, equipped with a full suite of solutions to support the missions, while aiming at consistently reducing the carbon footprint and environmental impact. ICON Yachts & Cookson Adventures are therefore able to deliver a long-term philanthropic project around the vessel, and gather a unique community of like-minded travellers, experts, and scientists across the globe.”

As an increasing number of owners and charterers look to discover our world’s more remote and  challenging destinations by yacht, both Nick and Micca look at how this shift is opening up more opportunities to support conservation and science research, as well as how vital it is to incorporate this explorer mindset into every aspect of the design process from an early stage.

Yacht Stewardess Diaries: Atlantic Crossing

Ever wondered what it’s like to do an Atlantic Crossing as a crew member onboard a Superyacht? How does your frame of mind alter after your fifth, or even tenth day at sea, with only miles and miles of ocean surrounding you? Ever questioned what a typical day at sea looks like for each department? Or how to keep yourself busy and sane for 12 whole days in the middle of the ocean?

In this Transatlantic travel diary, Yacht Stewardess Alessia Oricchio gives us an insight into the experience of crossing from Antigua to Gibraltar as an interior crew member. Let’s see how she stayed busy and how she dealt with some tumultuous weather and early morning watches along the way…

Day 1

12 pm departure from Antigua. A bittersweet feeling to be departing the Caribbean. Antigua was a very special place and always will be – grateful that we spent so much time off there and got to explore the island.
Ciao to the Caribbean, thank you for welcoming us and for making my first season across the pond so memorable.
As we left Falmouth, a thunderstorm hit as drills were completed and we were underway. I’ve got the graveyard watch 2-6 am then 2-6 pm.
First evening was a tough one to get into routine. Swell is apparent and it is very choppy, currently getting my sea legs back.

Day 2

Sleep is still broken, routine is not there. Missing working out. My goal within the next few days is to settle back into a routine. I’m the only interior crew doing the crossing so during my daylight watch I’m keeping crew areas clean and tidy, doing laundry, and the Captain’s cabin.
Yacht rating in progress. 30 minutes of hand steering the vessel today complete. I learnt the clove hitch, sheet bend, double sheet bend, and bowline.

Day 3

Completed some more knot training, did some ironing and felt nauseous. Our laundry is dark and has no air… feeling better today though.

Day 4

Seas are calmer, finally did a workout – only 15 mins though. We had sushi for lunch!

Day 5

It’s interesting how you don’t see many crew around during an Atlantic Crossing. There’s eleven of us doing the crossing: three Engineers, two Officers, Captain, Chef, me, and two Deckhands. It’s because of our watches that the boat is so quiet. It’s a little bit eerie. I definitely get scared when doing my rounds at night. What a wimp, I know.
The sea state is unbelievably glassy, the moon was out, and I saw a shooting star.

Day 6

I made a flourless healthy banana bread today with pistachios dark chocolate and black berries. It was delicious! Getting back on the pilates train, my favourite form of working out. Makes me feel so energetic and amazing after.

Day 7

I stayed up after my watch, made a Matcha latte, got into workout gear, and watched the sunrise. Was actually beautiful. I had a peaceful and productive morning, so let’s see if I stay awake until my next shift, or if I’m due another nap.

Day 8

Weather has picked up. Lots of slamming on the bow. I finished Daisy Jones and the Six and cried at the end? Not like me to get so involved in a show.

Day 9

Three and a half hours of hand steering down, one and a half to go, and were two days out of Gibraltar. I haven’t worked out. Weather still not the prettiest, cold, gloomy, and high swells. But I’ve been addicted to this green smoothie:
  • 1 Celery Stalk
  • Handful of frozen mango
  • Handful of frozen spinach
  • Pure coconut water
  • 1 teaspoon of matcha
  • 1 scoop of collagen ( I use ARMRA Colostrum)
  • Lime Juice
  • Chia seeds
Blend! Yummy!

Day 10

Navigation on an Atlantic Crossing

We’re two days out and I am so keen to have some land time!

Day 11

Hand steering on an Atlantic Crossing

I completed the five hours of hand steering the boat. Woop! I actually have really enjoyed the Atlantic Crossing, I always do. In my downtime I can have time for myself and my love, self care and reset down time. It’s nice to get into a routine. We arrive tomorrow.

Day 12

Arrival into Palma on the Atlantic Crossing

Arrival into the bunkering station at Gibraltar! I steered the boat through pilotage waters for 1 hour and took us through the north entrance. Bunkering commences. Tomorrow is a half day followed by a day off.
3204 miles completed.
After two days of shopping, (lots of) walking, and enjoying some land time, we’re off to Palma. After one and a half days I am back in the land of sangria and tapas.
3662 nautical miles later the transatlantic passage from Antigua – Gibraltar – Palma de Mallorca has come to an end.
Thanks for coming along and reading through the pretty relaxing crossing diary of my second Atlantic Crossing.

Evolution Yacht Agents: A Proud Member Of World League Of Agents

Throughout this series, we introduce you to World League of Agents (WLoA) and their members. A non-profit international Network, WLoA brings together yacht agents with long outstanding expertise from across the globe, each committed to providing exceptional service and well-known for their expertise and know-how.

As a consequence of the good service delivered locally, these agents were often requested to give referrals in other locations for agents who provide the same quality of service. It’s founders recognised that it was necessary for agents to unite and compromise to a standard service. WLoA members are located in all popular yachting hubs such as Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Malta, The UK & Ireland, The US, The Caribbean, and many more. One of their Spanish based partners is Evolution Yacht Agents, one of the most reputable yacht agencies in the industry.

In this article, we hear from one of the founding members of World League of Agents and the Managing Partner of Evolution Yacht Agents, Belen Martín, on what propelled Evolution to form the group, as well as the importance of truly listening to yacht crew and some general approaches to business.

“You don’t build a business, you build people, then people build the business” – Zig Ziglar

“I came across this quote 3 years ago and I learnt two things; a good leader will always build a reputable company and, if you want things to happen, you need to run your own show (just do it!)”

“I am lucky enough to be based in Barcelona, where we have the opportunity to meet crew in depth. The boats usually spend more than one month with us and choose this area (Barcelona, Vilanova, Tarragona) before the heavy season starts. Therefore, they have time to talk about themselves, not only about their jobs, but also about their personal lives. We learnt and keep learning a lot from crew!” – Belen Martín, Managing Partner at Evolution and founding member of the World League of Agents

In terms of how Evolution approach their clients, it is clear that truly listening to and understanding the needs of yacht crew is paramount to Martín and the team. This dedication to excellent service and client satisfaction has been carried through to WLoA, where the best agents in the world have been gathered for their clients, and each member of the group adopts a similar work ethic.

Belen explains that forming a united group felt like a natural progression, discovering that crew were often returning to the same agencies year after year:

“I am very curious, therefore, I started asking crew who they were using when in other countries and, year after year, the same names kept repeating: Tomaso, Bea, Chris, Ajka, Onur, Norina, Peter, Mark, Capt Deb. These names came from Captains/Pursers that have visited different parts of the world many times, with high demanding guests, so they have enough experience and knowledge to recommend who is THAT agent that will give you the right answers. Not necessarily the answers you would like, but the right answers above all”

“All of these agents are now under the same umbrella and I am happy to have my spot beside them with The World League of Agents” – Belen Martín

Beatriz Alonso, co-partner at Evolution and co-founder of WLoA also comments that:

“With the relation we have created with our clients in so many years they have become part of our family and we really feel giving them good advice about other companies is more than an obligation. WLOA is not only the perfect solution for the client but also for us. We recommend people we really know and really trust and by doing this they know we are giving them an answer for other locations. They will get the same service everywhere!”

6 Of The Best Diving Spots In The Mediterranean For Summer 2023

With the Summer season fast approaching and prospective itineraries becoming more solidified, you might be getting excited about spending time in the crystal clear waters on Mediterranean shores. The Mediterranean has some of the most renowned diving spots in the world, so if you’re lucky enough as crew to get to go for a dive in your down time, we highly recommend you grab the opportunity. To make it easier for you, we’ve found 6 of the top diving spots in the Med for 2023 so you don’t have to…

Sardinia, Albania

Named as a top diving spot in Italy, especially around Li Venezzi Marine Park and La Maddalena Archipelago. With fishing being almost non-existent, marine life continues to thrive. Sardinia is home to over forty dive sites, including Angelika, a Japanese cargo ship that sank in 1982, and a cave dive at Paganetto Rock.

The best diving spots in Sardinia

  • Capo Testa
  • Orosei Gulf
  • Capo Carbonara
  • San Pietro
  • Sant’Antioco

Corsica, France

Corsica is part of the French Cetacean Sanctuary where dolphins and whales can be regularly found. With depths ranging from 60-70 metres and a visibility of 30 meters, experts recommend exploring the ‘Le Bombardier’ shipwreck, La Punta Muchilina at Cargese, ‘La Pecorella’ wreck at Porto Vecchio, and the ‘La Grande Vallee’ at Propriano.

The best diving spots in Corsica

  • Calvi and the North
  • Around Scandola Marine Reserve
  • Sagone bay
  • The bay of Ajaccio
  • The bay of Propriano
  • South Corsica

Croatia

Croatia is home to 1000+ islands all adorned with reefs, underwater caverns, pillars, and canyons. The Mediterranean country giver divers the option to dive amongst WWI and WWII shipwrecks, a B-17 bomber, or venture into caves. With so many options available in Croatia, it is no wonder it is considered one of the top diving destinations in the world.

The best diving spots in Croatia

  • The Cathedral, Premuda
  • Vis Island Group
  • Hvar
  • The Blue Grotto (Modra Spilja)

Montenegro

If you’re looking for a bit of history, Montenegro oceans are home to Patrol Ship PBR 512 (intentionally sunk for rocket practice in 1983), WW1 Austro-Hungarian Destroyer Zenta, WW1 Bouclier Class French Destroyer, Dague, (she struck a mine in 1915), and a WW2 Airplane Wreck (a mystery aircraft discovered in 2008).

Best diving spots in Montenegro

  • Tihany Wreck
  • Blue Cave.
  • Poseidon City
  • Oreste Wreck
  • Reef Galiola
  • Island Mamula
  • Wrecks of Dague

Greece

Only five miles from Turkey, Chios Island in Greece has its own answer to the Aussie ‘Great Wall’. You’ll find walls of rock bursting with life and colour, as well as shipwrecks. We recommend venturing to Marathonisi, affectionately called Turtle Island, where loggerhead turtles go to lay their eggs in the small islet of Laganas Bay.

Best diving spots in Greece

  • Sykati Beach, Kalymnos
  • A secluded beach in Mykonos
  • A beach on the Greek island of Lesvos
  • Schinaria Beach in Crete
  • Elephant Cave, Crete
  • Britannic shipwreck, Kea
  • Zakynthos

Malta

First-time divers and beginners will thrive around the Island of Gozo. It’s ideal for underwater photographers with an amazing visibility of around 30 meters deep. For the more seasoned pros among you, black diamond dive sites here include the Blue Hole and Inland Sea, Reqqa Point, Cathedral Cave, and Billinghurst Cave. There are also three wreck dives, including MV Xlendi, which was purposely sunk to create an underwater attraction.

Best diving spots in Malta

  • Lantern Point. Also referred to as the Lighthouse Reef or The Chimney, Lantern Point is based in the south-western region of Malta’s small island of Comino
  • Bristol Blenheim Bomber
  • Foritza Reef
  • Imperial Eagle
  • Inland Sea and Tunnel

Best Local Spots To Refresh During Palma International Boat Show

As a Palma local of many years, the Palma International Boat Show is always a highlight on my calendar, marking the start of the Summer on the Island and a great opportunity for networking in a stunning location. With the show just around the corner, I compiled a list of some local places to refresh during the show. From stylish coffee shops to more traditional Vermuterias, Palma has so much to offer in terms of food and drink. These spots are only a short walk from Moll Vell, where the Palma Superyacht Village is again located this year. Check out the list below.

Café La Lonja

A firm favourite amongst locals, Yachties and tourists alike. Affectionately referred to by locals as ‘Orange Umbrellas’, Café La Lonja is a no-thrills bar and eatery set in a charming square, located directly across from Moll Vell and STP Shipyard. Serving small plates of tapas, snacks and Bocadillas, this is a perfect spot if you’re looking for a quick bite in-between appointments during the boat show.

Mistral Coffee House

With two locations in Palma, Mistral is incredibly popular for those who are serious about their speciality coffees. The most recently opened location in Plaça de Weyler is the most pleasant to enjoy a coffee in the sunshine on the outdoor terrace. They also do delicious food (possibly the best Avocado on toast in the city). A short walk from Moll Vell, Mistral is well worth a visit to get your caffeine fix during PIBS.

La Rosa

If you’re seeking authentic tapas in a buzzy and stylish setting, La Rosa should be on your list of places to eat during the show. Expect all of the classic tapas dishes, a mix of cold and warm plates and a great selection of Vermouth and Wines. Located in Carrer de la Rosa, right by Mistral, La Rosa is an ideal spot to entertain and dine with clients, just make sure to book ahead as it can be hard to secure a table towards the weekend.

Vermutería San Jaime

Another excellent spot in Palma for tapas, Vermutería San Jaime is located on Passeig Mallorca, a short stroll through the old town from the boat show. This quirky and stylish eatery is popular with locals and those in the know. A full and dynamic menu of tapas and great selection of Vermouth and Wine can be found here, the sweet options are also particularly delicious so don’t skip dessert! It is highly recommended to book ahead as the tables are often booked up.

Elefante

If a quick coffee close to the action is what you’re after, look no further than Elefante in Santa Catalina. This laid-back cafe is located directly opposite the bustling Santa Catalina market, and serves breakfast and brunch as well as offering a selection of takeout wraps and sandwiches.

El Perrito

A much-loved local establishment offering simple and delicious breakfast dishes as well as a full lunch menu that hits the spot every time. A particular standout are the Eggs Benedict and the Bagels. El Perrito has two locations on the same street, so if you can’t squeeze into one, check the other one down the road. The ultimate spot for people watching!

We will be present at the Palma Superyacht Village this year as official media partner to the event. Make sure to watch out for all of our coverage on this year’s show over on our social media channels:

Why Captains Believe The AcqueraPro App Is A Game Changer

The creators of AcqueraPro set out to build a platform that provides the highest degree of service to captains and crew without taking away the personal touch of agents on the ground. The AcqueraPro app aims to add ease to the process of visiting ports around the Med, streamlining the formalities that traditionally take up precious time. In 2022, 20 captains on varying sizes of yacht tested the AcqueraPro platform – to a great degree of satisfaction.

Read on to discover the feedback from the survey and find out how AcqueraPro can help you cruise the Med with ease this summer.

More Efficient Process

Many captains and crew would agree that one of the most time consuming elements of cruising the Mediterranean is often the paperwork and beuracracy of entering different ports. The team at Acquera recognised the need for a more efficient process and accumulated all of the necessary information into one user-friendly platform.

A survey was also conducted with both customers and non-customers, with excellent results. According to the survey, 74% of crew believe that the process of filling out forms and doing paperwork when entering ports is a laborious task, and 90% of users stated that AcqueraPro made booking a berth easier than previous methods. The app also contains a ‘Leisure’ platform, where crew can seamlessly plan itineraries and find information on each location, including Experiences, Events and Restaurants.

Various Captains testing the app have called the platform a ‘game changer’ and an ‘ideal cruising partner’. One captain onboard a 56 metre sailing yacht stated that with AcqueraPro he was able to upload all of the necessary documents and certificates using the app’s comprehensive interface:

“As Captain, I need clear and instantaneous information and AcqueraPro provides the answers. I knew in advance which forms were required for a port of call, all formalities were completed online and then sent straight to my local Acquera Yachting agent with no double handling or fuss.”

Survey Results

Here are some further results from the survey:

To discover more about AcqueraPro, visit their website.

Set to launch fully in May, you can book a demo and register for the app by clicking here.

Don’t miss out on your chance to cruise the med with joy this season!
